Isn't Google Earth good fun...?? Here are some
images (click-on to enlarge) I've captured...
This is Manor Road, Penn, Bucks, UK. You can see the road, cutting diagonally across the top right
corner. The swimming pool at bottom-centre was half way down our garden (I left
there 17th December, 1989) - (you can see the current residents are having a BBQ
or party, people are in the pool and lots of cars parked between the house and
the road). The big house to the left of ours (centre of piccie) is Windy Ridge -
Jan and Eric Richford our neighbours.
Manor Road from higher up, the big
house to the left of our swimming pool is where Eric and Jan's tennis court used
to be. What great times we had there!!
131 Tilehouse Way, Denham, Bucks, UK - (I left there November 1993 for Hong Kong, but Britta stayed
on and we only sold it 31st March, 1999) - don't know what is happening in the
bottom quarter of the piccie seems to be some merging of images - because that
is the railway line between Marylebone and "the West". Anyway.. 131 is to the
right of the house with the swimming pool, looks like the resident has put in
quite a few stepping stones and pathways, but doesn't seem to have removed the
horrible plastic lean-to out back of the house.
The Sovereign, Meyer
Road, Singapore. Meyer Road cuts across the top left corner and where it
disappears is the entrance to the condo's grounds. There's the little road
leading past the tennis courts, up to the small round-about - then either left
to the underground car-park or a little bit right to the entrance. The
plot of land to the left of the Sovereign must be worth a few bob, a lovely
house built on there (with terracotta warriors and horses statues spread
throughout the grounds)... with the East Coast Parkway (expressway) in the
bottom right corner. If you imagine a 3 pointed-star (like Mercedes Benz), with
the middle-top point being the one towards the bottom of the piccie - we lived
in the point to the right - #14-01. The big development to the right of
the Sovereign is The Makena.
Meyer Road and the Sovereign - from higher up... you
can just see the sea coming into the
bottom right corner, with the East Coast Park, then the expressway and finally
houses/condos along Mayaer Raod. The Sovereign (or at least its tennis courts
are) about dead centre.
Now this is a complicated one!! It shows Meyer Road from even higher up... but, is also trying
to show where we moved to (Dunman Place) from Meyer Road..... I've marked both
with little yellow markers. Basically from Meyer Road (bottom left), go along
the EAst Coast Parkway to Big Splash ( the water park just about middle-bottom
of the piccie) - turn 90 degrees left, and go up Tanjong Katong to Dunman
Road... its about 1 Kilometer.
And here we have Dunman Place - its the rightmost condo (with the pool and tennis court out
back). The condo to the left is Paradise Palms (Dunman Road is slicing almost
directly through the middle of the piccie from left to right) with Tanjong
Katong coming up from the bottom and angling across the bottom-left corner.
Ignore the little yellow marker for Dunman Place at top right, its a bit
misplaced!
